What an amazing place. SCOA member Danarchy took this video from his last vacation and all I can say is wow and ask, 'hey Dan did you go swimming here too?' Katooma is aboriginal for shiny tumbling waters' - you don't say.

The Sam Merrill trail is all that. 2300' of senuous, delictable delight. This day at 6 AM is was already 93 degrees. We were baking and the climb took a great deal out of us. But here is the video in 5 parts top to bottom. Enjoy.

On Sunday, 16 SCOA members took the opportunity to sea kayak for with the sea lions. Coordinating a group photo on the water is not easy. First you have the ocean breeze then you have all the boats coming in and out of the harbor - there was a sail boat race going on!

Up close and personal. During the descent on our third and last dive - out of no where it appeared. The Black Tip shark kept circling and circling until I went after it. . .

The Kenter whoops as they are called is a wonderfully kept secret in the Santa Monica Mountains. Big mondo jumps, experienced mountain bikers love running session through them. In the video, SOCA member Tim films, jumps and edits. Not sure who the artist is but the tune bumps. We like his editing selects as well. Hopefully there will be more from this guy soon.

High above it all, Stephen and Jeanne hang out -literally, while their climbing partners climb on. From the video you can tell, they are far off the forest floor. The view is breath taking.

Tar Creek ain't no joke. Once you complete the second rap at 200', game on as there is no turning back. Also, s no 'trail' marks the way. Nature provides only boulders - big ones, a 30-40 wide stream and deep water to get you home. Often times travelers have to swim their way down stream. It's a magnificent adventure for the stronger than average adventurer.

You can't always see the sun come up or go down but the jungle 'tells' you when things change. At sunrise, the birds screech announcing their arrival and warning to others. At sunset, the sky is red and the big cats come out. BTW - the MGM Grand roar you hear at the movies - imagine hearing that in the jungle in surround sound ster

The Plan was simple, spend 10 days in the rain forest, moving by foot and dug out canoe and camping on sand bars of the Curaray River. Logistically we would, connect with our guides, Eco Planet Adventures in Quito. Zip over to Shell (Mera) by auto. Then blast 200 miles into the rain forest in small plane. Simple - eh?
