Noble Canyon is considered to be one of the best trails around Southern California. It is technically difficult with narrow single track, nasty rocks and tight switchbacks. This ride takes you through three distinct ecosystems. You start out in alpine meadows and oak trees that transitions into typical Southern California chaparral and finally into the arid desert climate near the Anza-Borrego desert. This event is for intermediate to advanced level riders only! We are going to execute this as shuttle run folks. We will take you to the top and you will ride down. If it goes well there will be two runs. One in the morning and one early afternoon. By having two slots, we hope to get as many of you out there as possible. If you can do both - you are King Kong! Difficulty: Advanced - Intermediate Logistics: Shuttle Distance: 9 miles Altitude Change: ~ 1655 ft Time Required: All day Gear: Bring it. Yep if you have it bring it. Shin guards and full face are a fantastic idea although plenty of people ride this without it. We recommend dual suspension bikes. At the very least you will want front suspension. We see plenty of single-speed hard tail folks climbing this all the time.
Supplemental Data: Dangers: Sharp rocks, slippery rocks, loose dirt, cactus, no cell phone coverage, sand traps, and dehydration (among other things). Water: Bring at least 100 oz and expect to drink it all. (Did I mention dehydration?) Extra water advised. Food: Come eat with us for breakfast at Major's Diner (28870 Old Highway 80, Pine Valley, CA 91962) at 8:30AM to make sure you're OK for a few hours and bring some hi calorie snacks as well. You won't need fast energy on this ride like Gu's and such. You'll need endurance food. Eat some pasta the night before for best results. Some of us will be meeting in town at the cafe for breakfast at about 8:30AM if you'd like to meet us there instead of at the lower trail head. No drop ins for this one. RSVP in advance so we know who to expect. Chris 310.230.5520
