It's Snowing Everywhere!

I just got a call from Mammoth Mountain Group Sales. They want to work with us on lift ticket and accommodations! So while I understand the drivers to stay in Bishop and other non-Mammoth Mountain Properties - hang on. I'll have more for ya next week.

Also, glad to hear we at SCOA are using our brains. I guess getting into/out of Baldy over the weekend was a challenge. Read the Thread . Thanks for carpooling and all that stuff.

Over 473 of you downloaded the ticket for the Adventure Travel Expo. It was great to see a handful of you stop by!

Don't wait,Get your ski and board on!

We are super excited to announce that we are almost done with the new SCOA website. Yeah - we have been listening to you. Having an easy way to: upload pictures and video, as well as communicate through IM, Chat, and Blogs. . . Anyone can join and it is free.Probably the biggest change is that it doesn't HAVE to be SCOA events. We know that all 1500 cannot play with SCOA every weekend. You are still family and we want to hear from you via your blog or multi-media you decide to upload.

Healthy Thoughts

More bad news for Fructose!

The University of Cincinnati says new studies have found that fructose turns to bad fat. It also lowers hormones which reduce your appetite so you don’t get as full from what you eat. A safe sugar? The sugar created from dates has unique anti-oxidant value. Find it at Amazon.com or health food store, says Kalidas Shetty, PH.D. University of MA. Love a diet soda; make your own. Use ¼ fresh fruit juice and tonic water – it’s a healthy alternative.

We all know how important eating organic is; here’s one more reason. Read the label and make sure you eliminate any products from your diet that aren’t “real food”; meaning it doesn’t rot because it’s so preserved by this sugar.

Stress and everyday life take their toll:on everyone. Keeping you up at night is one of their undesirable side-effects.Try this Pranayama technique to help you get your z's. It focuses on breathingto settle your body and quiet your mind.

Inhale through the nose for a count of 6.
Hold for a count of 3.
Exhale through the nose for a count of 6
Hold for a count of 3.
Repeat this series 4 more times

Next, inhale through the nose for a count of 6
Exhale through the nose for a count of 6
Repeat this series 4 more times
Don't stress yourself about the exact numbers. Simply follow the inhale/hold exhale/hold pattern.

Focusing on your breathing and nothing else causes you to hone in on the present and...relax. Sleep precious sleep is soon to follow.

Where has the week gone?!

Friday is here. The weather is here. You ready to get your play on?

Yesterday morning we had an incredible ride at the Cheeze ~ just off of Chesbro Road. Many of you have been askin' about beginner rides - that is a perfect place for beginners.

This morning we did Sullivan's Canyon. I never get tired of this place. Sheryl joined us on dawn patrol. She rode from the parking lot off of Westgate to the Old Missile Battery. It is a perfect ride for those of you who would like to get a ride in before work. We are usually done by 7:30AM.

Thank you thank you thank you to those who have taken the survey!

For those of you who haven't please do. It helps us put together more amazing events for you to participate in. It also helps us design a better online experience for you. . .

Yep, you heard me - a New and Improved Website. Based on the comments we got off of the survey, you would like a place to upload video, pictures and make comments. You would also like it to be easy to stay in touch with your friends and "family". How about a way to Chat and stay in touch with your friends during the day? . .

Stay tuned!

Gotta Eat on the Go

Okay, you’re out and about and all you have is a fast food choice. You’re starving and you know your blood sugar is dropping. What’s a good choice? Fortunately, fast food places have taken note of our changing food habits and chosen to accommodate. Choose wisely and make the best choice possible – READ the dietary info to be sure. My favorite, McDonald’s or Burger King Chicken tenders, low fat milk, apple slices. You have to be careful though – did you know an Aloha Pineapple Jamba Juice (30oz) had more sugar than a banana split?
